Who is eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program?

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Program is designed for individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada and wish to become permanent residents. This program is part of the Express Entry system and focuses on those who have already integrated into Canadian society and can contribute to the economy.

Work Experience: Have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years. The experience must be in a NOC skill type 0, A, or B job.
Language Proficiency: Demonstrate adequate proficiency in English or French through approved language tests.
Education: While there are no specific educational requirements, having higher education can improve the applicant’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
Status in Canada: Have gained work experience while legally authorized to work in Canada.

The CEC program is ideal for temporary foreign workers and international graduates who have already been part of the Canadian workforce and seek to transition to permanent residency.
